Tax Year

The tax year is the fiscal year in St. Kitts and Nevis. A different tax year is permissible only in exceptional circumstances.

Tax Return Filing

Taxpayers are required to file the tax returns by the 15th day of the fourth month following the end of the company’s tax year (i.e., three and a half months following the end of the tax year).

The tax return must be filed by a company incorporated in St. Kitts and Nevis, even if no business transaction took place during the year or a tax holiday was granted. Further, any non-resident corporation having a permanent establishment in St. Kitts and Nevis must also file a tax return.

St. Kitts and Nevis launched a new tax administrative system, “SMARTS”, which can be used to file tax returns and pay taxes online using the IRD's e-Services webpage.

Tax Payments

Advance tax estimated on the basis of the preceding year’s tax return is required to be paid on a quarterly basis in four instalments on 15 March, 15 June, 15 September, and 15 December of each year, subject to certain adjustments.

The final tax due, based on the tax return after adjusting advance tax payments, is required to be paid by the due date of filing of the tax return, i.e. the 15th day of the fourth month of the following year.

Availability of E-Filing

E-filing is available via e-filing portal (SMARTS) of the St. Kitts and Nevis Inland Revenue Department.
